Default why does the torpedo lock not lock anymore with gwx 103?

i just tried out the new gwx103 patch and i am very disapointed that the torpedo lock turns off after 1 second. i lock onto a target and by the time i hit the button to fire the torpedo it is unlocked and my torpedos are not even close to any ship. this is in calm water or rough.

also i am curious why the periscope movement was slowed so much you can go get a cup of coffee and come back before its fully raised or lowered. in real life it should not take a full 30 seconds to raise or lower the scope should it?

i had to upgrade my computer to play with gwx mod so this is my first experience with it. i dont know if it was like this from the begining but i use the target lock feature often.

Do You use 16km mod or default 8km? I had a problems with locking on target with 16km mod, but now with 8km everything is o.k.

The boats behavioural movement impacts on your ability to maintain a 'lock' just like in reality.....periscopes had no stabilisation equipment (look at it that way)

Indeed the whole premise of a "lock" mechanic is a concession to the player. You need it for all the notepad TDC tools and you also need to click away to fire a torp.

However I have learned to be happy with it. If you have auto-stabilize turned off in the realism settings then you should remember that this is the consequence of that.

I think this is the way it worked in RL. The Kaleun would pick up the target and call out the data to the weapon's officer who would record it and work out the solution. The target stayed "locked " only as long as the Kaleun kept his scope trained on it.

well this is the situation i was in:

calm water, no damage, under power at 7kts target at 800m hit lock button, count 1 2 unlocked. relocked on target count 1 2 unlocked, relocked on target count 1 2 unlocked, fired torpedo at same time it unlocked and fish missed by a good 10m at a 70 degree angle to target. i cant figure out what happened.

this was a test from stock 1.4b version to gwx 103 to compare but my results suck. i was testing both versions in the single mission barham and everything worked fine in stock but gwx was not letting me lock on target more than 1 second. this was gwx download + gwx 103 patch download only, no add ons.

The "lock" capability was purposefully reduced in effectiveness by myself in GWX. In real life... U-boats did not have computer assisted targetting.

Now you must be closer to the target to maintain a "lock" which should create all sorts of interesting events.

This feature will remain as such.

i dont want to ram them just torpedo them.

well if it was designed that way then at least now i know its not a flaw but a chosen feature.
