Default Recognition manual height

Hello,

I'm trying to mod the recongnition manual of GW, trying to make the space for each of the zones (Profile and Angle views) higher than the 128 pixels/each one. I have studied, changed and tested many changes on the menu_1024_768.ini in the zone of recognition manual without any luck.

Maybe someone can help/advice please?

Thank you!

Really, when I try to make the xxxx_sil.tga files higher (more than 256 pixels, =2x128), it stretch it to a max 256 height, blurring all.

Does exists out there some explanation/tutorial of the menu_1024_768.ini file, specially the recogn manual part? I can't find nothing on these forums...

I would assume that you would need to create (from scratch) a new set of TGA files correctly sized for your new size of recog manual.

For example, what happens if you have a 128x128 jpg image & then resize it to 256x256? Blurry & Fuzzy?
There is not enough information contained in the pixels of the 128 version to effectively double the resolution.

If I understand correctly the way menu.ini file works, it just governs the position & size of 'windows / images' that you see while playing. What you have asked the menu.ini to do is resample the tga's for the ships and recog manual. It just can't do this.

You will have to get creative in an image editing suite and start from scratch. Sorry.

Good luck.

Tx for answer. Actually what I try to do is to make xxx_sil.tga files in photoshop of let's say 286 pixels high instead of the 256 stock, and then use them in the recogn manual. Although in photoshop they are not blurry (of course), when they are shown in the recogn manual, it shows the files in the same space that the non-286 pixels .tga's so they (the 286 px high) become blurry.

The problem is how to tell the menu_1024_768.ini that the files are 286 high and that the allowed space to fit them is also 286 px instead of 256.

Maybe someone could enlight me?

I'm not sure, but I think it is handled the same way as the conning tower emblems and auto resized when rendered.

Not seen Jonz for a long time.

Here's an idea. Can you d/l Jonz's manual and compare all the files with that of Stock SH3? He changed the size of the manual so the answer must be in the comparison of the orignal and the new.:hmm:
