Default Newbie question re Grey Wolves

I have installed the GW mod using JSGME, I think.
I say I think because I don't know what to expect.
I've started a new career but it looks exactly like the pre mod version.
Is there any way I can check?

I did a clean install of SH and patched it.

Your first clue is the start up screen which isnt anything like the stock one

Then everything after :rotfl:

Was your starting game loading screen a "Grey Wolves" screen, if not, then you do not have it installed correctly. I did not use JSGME to install TGW1.1a I installed it into the Silent Hunter III directory.

Hello

the simplest way to check it is the intro screen. Do you see the GW intro (a sub emerging from the depth) or the usual SH3 one????

If you want to install GW via the mod enabler you need to run the executable inside the MODS folder that the enabler makes. That way a GW folder is generated with the proper structure. After the installation finishes you can activate the GW mod via the enabler

You should also be able to hear the soulful howl of a wolf in a colds winters night as the game is loading. Are you getting that?

Default Re Grey Wolves install

Thanks to everyone for the rapid responses.

As I suspected GW has not installed, interestingly when I moved the GW mod from left to right in JSGME it ran through a whole lot of files, presumably altering them, or so I thought. The intro screen is the original. Will now try to remedy matters.

Robj250. You say you installed without JSGME, I'm not sure how to do that because when I D/Ld GW all I got was 6 files but nothing like a setup or install file. Do I then just place the 6 GW files in the root SH3 folder, or what please.

Thanks again

If you want to install it over SH3 you just run the executable of GW in the C\program files\Ubisoft\SH3. If you do this though and you don't like GW you need to uninstall SH3 to get rid of it. If you install it via the mod enabler you can take it out without uninstalling SH3

When you download GW you will get an executable. This is the file to run to unpack the other GW files you need to put into the MODS or the root derectory

use this URL to get GW 1.1a http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/TGW/index.html#dl

Sounds like you have GW1.0
Unzip all 6 files into one folder then add that folder through JSGME

If you need help in how to use the mod enabler check out these tutorials
http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=1009484

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x/a/tp...2/m/3461029123

The first one is for Rome Total Realism but it makes no difference as the principles are the same.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask

Good Luck

First, if you DL TGW1.1a then you also get a setup file and that's what you use to install. But if you want to install it using JSGME, the other guys will tell you how.

First I used JSGME to install it, but changed my mind because I wanted to use MultiSH3 and I wasn't sure how multicopies of SH3 running worked it at that time, so I removed TGW1.1a. and put it in a clean install.

I always keep a CLEAN copy of SH3 patched and rename it SH3-original, so I always have a clean file to use, so I can just copy it.
