Default Ships sinking themselves?

Probably covered before but using RuB on a brand new career I decided to make a pass through Scapa Flow to save some time, seas were rough and I went to periscope depth for the passing. Of course sonarman picked up several warships contacts off in the distance. I would make an attempt to close on them while submerged to get a scope on them and see what type exactly they were. (With the hopes of maybe catching a Battleship and getting some eels off at it) Everytime I ID'ed one (3 were destroyers and 1 was an armed trawler) they simply sank! Showed up on the map as a sunk ship and no more sound from them on the hydrophones! I did not actually sail over their graves but I never fired a single torpedo. I did NOT get credit for the kills of course.

Rough seas bringing them down? 4 ships in 2 hours? May just be some kind of bug.

This is why we will never see 10 meter high waves in SH3, it simply kills the ships. This is also why you often see burning pt boats.

Those ships were killed by waves, yes.

Funny, I have the opposite problem.

I put four direct hit torpedoes into a C2 before it sank. I have pictures, too.

Yes Stabiz but it only seems (for me anyways) to happen in very shallow seas. I guess its nearly exposing the ocean floor to them, running them into the bottom and busting their keels.

I'm not familiar with the mod, but is there any chance they're hitting mines?

I do not think the area I was in is mined. It also only really does this in heavy seas.

Heavy seas are the reason for this, no doubt. The only thing that is weird to me, is that the crew of the PT boats are still ONBOARD while the boat is on fire!!! H*ck, they are sitting an ammo + torpedos, and their ship is on fire, but they still keeps on fighting...... I guess the U-boat Bernard isnt the only Bernard around...:rotfl:

That is how the damage mod works in the game...it's unable to differentiate between storm damage and battle camage.

I had a DD after me and he ran right into the shoreline it was so dark out. :rotfl: I didn't get credit. but it was funny. On the way out, I saw another ship that had run aground. They both must of had Bernard at the wheel. :rotfl:

I sneaked into Scapa just before dark. Once I was in I started sinking ships. The one DD that came after me ran aground behind me, it was funny to see. :rotfl:

Then on my way out in the early morning I saw that the DD guarding the east entrance had run aground also.

May Bernard was at the wheel on both ships. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Glad to hear it went well. Now you will suffer from the Scapa-fever.

Possibly.
But not for much longer.
