Lately , a week or so on.
everytime I fire up my system, after a couple of minutes (aprox 10) without doing nothing on the internet a Pop up appears with an website in the background message ''You System might be affected by Spyware or error'' with the comon Yes or no Button. The website promotes Antivirus/Internet security software against pop ups and spyware. my problem with it: They give me a bloody pop up which minimalize my application (for example SH3) that minimalisizing causes a fatal error with SH3 itself because he just loaded my game! when the pop up is there my InternetSecurity of Norton goes wild because a Spyware has been detected called ''ErrorSafe'' . this pisses me off...I never asked for this bullsh!t. nor do I know which right do they have to give me a unwanted pop up including a spyware file. and they wich causes this crap promote software to prevent this! thats a ripp off! I,m looking for a way to block them because my Norton Advertising/Pop Up blocker doesnt seem to block this fella. the website himself configurates on ur system language ...mmm weird thought mine appeared 2 times ''nl.errorsafe.com'' and ''nl.winantivirus.com'' (dont try these links!) is there any website where you can report these kind of websites that gives pop ups including spyware? Thanks for the Help in advance HunterICX

If you're not at ease to play with regedit, try this software: http://www.spybot.info/
It should give a result... |

Hi Fish
I like your idea best. I have system restore on my rig. I can't see downloading some product I never heard of to do a fix when I have tools to fix problem and not risk an even worse mess. There's alot of fixes out there but,to each his own way. Awhile back I had a simular problem as this thread is addressing and didn't know I could set a restore point. The said was very annoying .Everytime Itryed to go online it blocked me and wanted me to run there FREE program to see if I liked it and buy it. To me that was extortion and wouldn't do it and did a full DOD wipe. And didn't make any backup copies as I was afraid they might be effected. Now I have copies of all my very important good stuff " mods, missions, and all other important SubSim stuff ![]() be loseing any of this can I ? So my suggestion in omho is regularly set a restore point like when you defrag and do other housekeeping. Wheew!!! I'm tired. I'd like to hear other suggestions. I know there's alot of others smarter then me that have ideas and opions on how to address this . So I pass control of the floor to the next speaker ![]() ![]() |

Sounds like "Winfixer" and yes it is software that is more like malware.
According to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winfixer Best thing to do first time it pops up is to disconnect from the internew BEFORE clicking on the box. I've had to do and avoided infection in that way as it installs itself even if you click the "x" to close it. ![]() |

![]() In Joea's post, just a few post above me, he links to a wikipedia page, which explains in detail wath "Winfixer" malware is, if you scroll down that wiki page and go to the section that says: Removing WinFixer You will soon find out that Spybot - Search & Destroy is in the list, it says: Several free reputed anti-spyware programs can detect and remove WinFixer, such as Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. It's not me who added that, it's been there for a long time, because it's a long time that Spybot Search & Destroy exist, and does the job very well, enough to be known by millions of internet users around the world, making it a top choice. And you telling me that that you think it won't do anything, and restoring is better. Spybot Search & Destroy will tell you exactly where the problem is, and if you want to take action, and many other things. Take time in life and explore, read a lot instead of looking for the easiest way out and saying things like a software that is unknown to you can't do anything. Making use of the restore is the lame way to do things, you will never get to know the real problem and resolve it. If you research enough, you will soon find out that the restore "can" actually mess up your files and programs if you do not take care of it properly; there are measure to take before you simply hit the restore button. But I am not here to explain that, I said enough. ![]() |
