Default Computer Crash

Guys about six months ago I suffered a computer crash. I had to do a total system re-install. At that time I had SH III with Commander ed. 2.3 which I liked. Can someone direct me home if I attempt to re-install SH III. I have orginial disk. Does offical patch 1.4 cover all previous patches? Also if I want to go back to Commander I think they are now at version 2.6. Can I do this once I do a reinstall with offical patches? I really want re-supply at sea as an option. What configuration should I line-up with? Will Commander do that alone or what else will I need? Thanks for your help as I would love to get into to this baby but I am not a big mod guy so be patient with me!!! If I have to I will wait till SH IV but would like to live this one

Hi mate!

No probs, just install vanilla SH3, then install the 1.4 patch (its all in there). Then install SH3 commander. you should also get the JSGME (jonesoft generic mod enabler), a nice little program that keeps your downloads in order. Then: The Grey Wolves mod (or the NYGM). Take a trip over to terrapin at UBRS, he has every download you could possible dream of! Just ask if you still wondering about something! :-)

Hi you could try Jaesens website: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/
And some further advise, I recommend Norton Ghost for backing up your system!

Hey ... Stop posting at the same time as me Seth!!:rotfl:

Damn good to have you back with us Seth! No foolish acts of communism this time around! OK?

To answer the questions. Install SH3, download the 1.4b patch (make sure you have the right vesion, the installer will say 1.3, but in fact it's 1.4b). Download GW, play till Christmas. Repeat the above rule, just install GWX this time around!

Have fun!

Default How about Commander 2.6

Thank you for your kind suggestions about installing SH III and patches. I understand that Do I need commander 2.6 if I go with GW ??? Will it work with both??? Do I inflict any harm with Commander 2.6
Thanks

You can run SH3 with just GW. However, SHCommander is an excellent standalone program that many players will not leave port without. Just be sure to read the documentation for it. FYI - Readme's are available on JScones' website & in the install folder.

SHC really adds alot of info & functionality that you can't do without it.

The most current version is GW1.1a

You can read more here: http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/pc/silent-h.../732541p1.html

...and you can visit The Grey Wolves Website designed and hosted by JScones.

FURTHERMORE, The Grey Wolves website includes a new feature for GW users... AUTOMATICALLY-INSTALLING downloadable GW 1.1a Supermod files. Visit the webpage for more information, including screenshots, online readme, and changelog! (The available downloads include the GW version 1.1 update and 1024 Cfg/Bearing overlay hotfix.)

I want to say to both Mr. Neal Stevens and Mr. JScones how grateful the GW team is for your generosity. I also want to thank Terrapin again. Your continued support is invaluable.

The GW team has gone back to work and is nearing completion of our next major release. We have actively listened to our users... and are doing what needs to be done to make the GW mod even more historically accurate and better than ever.

Guys, please note that The Grey Wolves Supermod was designed to be a stand alone freeware modification to Silent Hunter III.

"Unofficial" add-ons for The Grey Wolves Supermod are not supported by the GW development team and their use is NOT RECOMMENDED for the inexperienced or casual user. The Grey Wolves development team cannot be held responsible for any adverse effects caused by the subsequent modification of any files.

Filefront Mirror. (FileFront seems to work at a decent speed lately.)

This mirror is a bit different from the others in that the files are zipped when you download them. The reason being is simple... file-sharing sites like Rapidshare and FileFront just don't like BIN files!!! Ack!!!

All you need to do is this...
1) Prepare a fresh/clean installation of Silent Hunter III
2) Patch it to version 1.4b
3) Download and unzip all five segments into a single new folder on your desktop
4) Run the executable.

Please note: The Fileplanet link includes the entire package as one large download. You can find fast DL speeds and no waiting here:
