06MAR41 U-125, Type IXC (5 patrols)
Patrol 1 06MAR41 - 15APR41 (41 days) - 8 (8/0) - 66488 (66488/0) Hit a convoy on this patrol Patrol 2 20MAY41 - 25JUN41 (37 days) - 8 (8/0) -53296 (53296/0) U-Boat damaged (H.I. 93.42%), Hit a convoy on this patrol, Merchant got lucky hit in. Patrol 3 30JUL41 - 03SEP41 (36 days) - 4 (3/1) - 22314 (21784/530) U-Boat damaged (H.I. 47.18%), I had the stupid idea to raid freetown harbor. Patrol 4 29OCT41 - 07DEC41 (40 days) - 10 (7/3) - 39187 (36117/3070) U-Boat damaged (H.I. 71.27%), Hit a mine raiding St Johns harbor. Mine basically gutted the boat. Forward batteries destroyed, both periscopes put out of action. Boat sunk to the bottom, pumped the water out, stayed laying doggo on the bottom until dark. Surfaced, got shelled, sank some ships on my way out, limped home with 1/4 total battery capacity. Patrol 5 11JAN42 - 03FEB42 (24 days) - 1 (1/0) -7383 (7383/0) U-Boat lost. I have five words for this: Fog, Rain, midnight, destroyer, and ramming. I could probably sum those five words up with a singular word, that word being Radar. Oh well, ive lost better careers much farther along ![]() |

If your worried about 42, - 43 and 44 might have you in a bundle of nerves.
My best career ever was U-184. Started in Jan42, i retired it in Jan45 cause i was just loosing intrest. But this particuarl career had 11 patrols with 687 days at sea. Longest patrol being 123 days. Whats intresting to note is my tonnage went down and down as the war went on. Patrol 9 saw 6 ships sunk. Patrol 10 saw 3 ships sunk, Patrol 11 saw NOTHING sunk at all. Once the allied air cover has you snorkelling all the time, you've pretty much lost. Without being able to manuever on the surface, you really dont have much chance of getting into a good firing position, so you end up sinking whatever happends to blunder accross your path. Surfacing to do an end-round attack is like playing russian roullete with 3 rounds in the cylinder. |

Oh yes, at night too, just not always as frequent as during the day, but no, the night is no repreive or releif. Your only releif from them comes from bad weather when they can't fly. |

I can't help and this has been brought up numerous times again, but what air cover? Using GW the only air attacks I suffered in '44 were when leaving the harbor. I was only snorkeling in bad weather with poor visibility, otherwise running on the surface all the time in quads BE, BF, AN, AM.

the GW file has the following values among others Default Air Strike Probability=35 Enemy Air Strike Probability Increase on Radio Messages Sent=10 Friendly Air Strike Probability Increase on Contact Report Sent=60 Enemy Air Strike Probability Increase on Player Detection=10 Atenuation Factor=10 Personally i ramped those values up a little in my own game: Default Air Strike Probability=70 Enemy Air Strike Probability Increase on Radio Messages Sent=75 Friendly Air Strike Probability Increase on Contact Report Sent=90 Enemy Air Strike Probability Increase on Player Detection=60 Atenuation Factor=15 Keep in mind, for Aircraft to spawn they have to have an Airbase in the LND layer. Most mods by default do not have any major expansion of the allied aircover until beginning or mid year of 1943. And sometimes you just get wierd inactivity. Sometimes the skies are black with planes over the carribean where i cant surface for more then 2 hours, and other times the skies are remarkly devoid of planes. |
