Australia's WW1 Submarine AE1
Ahoy all Skippers and crew.
Today here in Australia, 18/11/14. While looking at the Newspapers, on line. There is an article that they, say they may have found the lost Sub AE1, off Papua New Guinea. (AE2 is on the seafloor in Turkey. Thanks to it's commander, Capt Stoker. who had to scuttle it, or be fired on be the Turks, at the time. Lost no Crew, at that point. A couple as POW's, in Turkey, though, died.) I hope this link/ article will open for you about AE1 or try news.com.au/national news http://www.news.com.au/national/object-found-off-papua-new-guinea-may-solve-mystery-of-australias-first-submarine-ae1-sunk-off-new-guinea-in-1914/story-fncynjr2-1227125999956 Also enjoy this link: www.ae1.org Let's hope it's good news. (unless, it a WW2 one, by accident.) So a formal funeral, farewell, to the lost Officers and Crew. Can be made. So that they, may rest in peace, eternal. As we and our Kiwi friends would say: "Lest we forget." The same to all Submariners, past and present, from all Navies. Whether it be in time or War or Peace. That their ship went down, to that watery grave. And to those of other Naval vessels. (Army and Air Force, etc, too.) Merchant and Cargo alike. |
