Default Middle East

Canadian and Kuwait have just directed their citizens to leave Lebanon immediately.

1. Canadian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family in Lebanon. You should leave Lebanon while commercial options remain available.

2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait issued a notice tonight (Saturday) to its citizens staying in Lebanon to leave the country as soon as possible. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on anyone who cannot leave Lebanon to immediately contact the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in the Lebanese Republic via the embassy's emergency telephone number – 0096171171441.

Meanwhile…

The new U.S. Embassy compound in Beirut was finally completed at a cost of $1B as conflict between Hezballah and Israel continues and nations begin evacuating their staffs and encouraging their citizens to depart.

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) alongside several U.S. Navy Surface Vessels including the Ticonderoga-Class Cruiser; USS Philippine Sea (CG-58) and at least a Pair of Arleigh Burke-Class Guided Missile Destroyers have now arrived roughly 150 Miles off the Coast of Northern-Central Israel, after Transiting the Suez Canal from the Red Sea earlier today.

Yep, me too thinks its not looking good up there in Israel's North. In a zone along the border the war practically already has begun months ago.

Putin, Xi and Kim will feast on this. More US ressources distracted and locked away, more of Europe's attention diverted away. More push towards overburdening the West.

If you think wrestling is just about weight and power, think again. Its a lot about stand and balance - or the lack of it.

I don’t know if it’s really overburdening the U.S. our carriers will be out there regardless of what’s going on in the world. Eisenhower (CVN69) is just one carrier strike group and those super carriers can rival the Air Force of just about any nation. On top of that I think we have like 8 more carriers strike groups available.

It seems that China can overflow carrier groups' aerial defences, both missiles and planes, by simply accepting the high costs for itself. It may loose more planes, yes. But in the end probably will catch the carrier that simply has run out of ammo in "the ready racks" during the battle. Oversaturating defences is somethign there is no remedy to if the attackers is ready to accept his own losses. And China fighting close to its homebases can afford these. A fleet far away from home bases cannot.

Or China, by other threats and means , just keeps the carriers far enough away and outside their striking range. Neutralising US carriers is a top priority for the Chinese, if not THE top priority, militarily. We can safely assume that over the past 20 years they made steep progressions here. I do to take a US victory as naturally granted as many others do.

Next: Chinese submarine numbers...

But maybe most relevant: simple Chinese coast guard cutters - by the hundreds.

Reminds me a bit of this:
