How much Renown have yo got from a patrol as record? My record is 1030 with around 40k ton on a patrol at 30% in level

I don't use renown all my upgrades are free when they become available.

Free like an edited basic.cfg? Because I'm thinking about doing this, I just don't understand why upgrades to heighten my chance of surviving (which must be in the admiralty's interest as well) should actually "cost" me sth...

I haven't used any renown since I upgraded from a Type II to a Type VII. I've since upgraded from a VIIC to IXB and finally to a IXC, which will be my final sub upgrade. I'm not interested in the IXD2 or XXI.
Just like Andy 311, all my upgrades cost 0 (zero) renown. My current career has me at mid-1943 and the current renown built up from sinkings via flak gun, deck gun and torps since 1939 is slightly more than 146,000.
