I've been away for a while - and not played SHIII for some time.
I've come back to see that there seem to be loads of new mods since last year... A boring question; Which mods should I use for the most realistic simulation of being a U-boat captain? Anyone got any pointers for me please, I was somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer range of choice. |

Rubini's Harbor Mod is a must-have for some, BUT BY GOD it makes exiting a port a huge project! I'm sure I'm just not smart enough to find the proper texts to change, so that the TC won't come to 1 every time I spot friendlies.

I've also recently returned here, and was overwhelmed by the number of mods.
For the real realism experience the RuB (real u-boat) mod is recommended, but I admit that is a tad too realistic for me (read: too difficult). The mod I've installed now is the Grey Wolves mod. It's excellent, and includes Rubini's wonderful tinkering with AI traffic, along with lots of other enhancments, including many visual/graphical improvements. You'll find it it the stickied thread in the SH3 mods forum. Recommended! Here is the link to the GW thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=90874 2nd edit: Do not be intimidated by the rather extensive instructions, but note the 'do not make changes to the sub before your first patrol' and 'do not upgrade the sub immediately when returning to base, but wait until you're about to leave for your next patrol'-parts, and you should be ok... ![]() Last edited by Bjørn O.; 06-02-06 at 03:06 PM. |

I recommend Improved U-Boat actually. Its got loads of graphic and sound improvements, and it isnt too hard on the playability. Check it out, see what you think

I'll confess, just reading about GW scared the heck out of me. I'd like mods that don't change damage models more than they already have changed. I'm about to venture out for my very first IX mission (glee!), and I am trying to find those milkcow-mods and whatnot that I've been hearing about.

the milkcow mod is built into GW
You know you can remove the ships and aircraft before installing GW so damage is same as stock game |
