Default Fear, loathing and the submarine

No matter how SHIV turns out we will be disappointed. Such is the nature of simulation enthusiast. Every person can mention 10 things they find flawed with SH3, in spite of them playing the game for 100+ hours.

So the night mare scenario: The thing you fear most they will screw up in SHIV:

Mine is that they will completely ignore both plotting of contacts and manual targetting and leave it as it is in the game, in spite of that it could be much improved.

Generally, I fear they focus on sexying up the game rather than fixing the many things not done properly in the first time.

My #1 fear, I guess, is that Ubisoft will rush it and refuse to release more than three patches. It's never happened before, but I just have this funny feeling...

There should be another realism option for those things. On the very hardest, you had to do everything yourself using tables, tools, and the TDC screen (F6), like in that tutorial I linked to.

I second that. Graphics don't really need to be better than in Silent Hunter III.

My biggest fear (game being rushed doesn't count as a feature now, does it): No dynamic radio communication or objectives. In other words, you're limited to sending patrol and contact reports, and your orders never change in mid-patrol. You can't request escorts, new orders, or re-supplying, nor can you send an SOS (in the event of abandoning ship, which I believe was going to be in Silent Hunter III as there's an "Abandon ship" sound file in the Speech folder).

That, and the monotone missions. No rescues, landing or retrieving commandos, taking photos, destroying specific targets, etc. Just "reach zone and patrol it for 24 hours".

My Biggest Fear: Is that they will put in everything everybody wants
but then will charge $500.00 for the game!! Nothing is cheap anymore
guys and gals.....not even clean water and air

That being said, though, I wouldn't mind it being improved. More terrain features, underwater foliage.

But I'm not sure if my computer would be able to handle it (it can barely handle Silent Hunter III with its 512 MBs of RAM), and it's not necessary anyway as graphics are immersive as they are.

It'd need to be a graphics option if implemented anyway. So... As long as the game's stable and good game-play-wise, use all the time you need on eye-candy. Otherwise, it's a low priority.

My number one fear is that they will get tired of eveyrone complaining that SHIII isnt realistic enough and make it so realistic that people like me who play for fun and dont want to spend 30 mins calculating a firing solution wont want to play
