Default France demands compensation

I had a laugh last night on the radio I heard France is demanding £360,000 compensation from the EU for one dead duck killed by bird flu. And I bet they get it.

great stuff lol!

mind you i think the jist of it is that the farmers want some compensation for loss of buisness due to the decrease in consumer demand for chicken (think about it) and especailly so if the government demands that they cull their stock to prevent the spread of the desease ...working on the basis that if and when the crisis passes -without help most of the chicken farmers will have by that time gone bankrupt---especailly the free-range guys who are going to get hit first--then where will we get our chicken and chips!! from abroad which makes the future rapid spread of such deseases more likely

I think they should demand compensation from the media due to the false hysteria being generated.

Here in the UK several papers, and one of them a decent paper, had headlines along the lines of "Bird Flu coming this way, The govt doing nothing!!" "Govt says things are in hand, didn't they say this about foot and mouth."

The media in this country especially the gutter press have got a lot to answer for for voter apathy and cynicism.

Personally I don't give a damn. you get bird-flu from coming into contact with infected bird-**** or blodd or work closely with infected birds. I don't intend to touch bird ****, I run from pigeons and ifyou see a dead bird, don't go any where near it.

Sometimes I despair at my country.

Good news the whole of the population of the UK are to be given shot guns, all birds are to be shot on sight, and this will guarantee 100% in keeping bird flu out the UK, thank you Tony Blair. I feel a lot safer now.

They can have it after they pay the US for their WWII bill that France refused to pay through shear Arrogance!

The duck bill thing made me laugh too! That was good thinking!

Bird flu is not the problem. The potential of this virus to mutate is the problem. While i amnot worried about H5N1, I may be worried about one of it's offsprings in the future, if Junior happens to behave bad.

I'm with Xab and Skybird on this one. The media (as per bloody usual) have hyped this one up to the point where it's almost like the Black Death is coming. While I am concerned about Bird Flu, I think the real time to worry is when we get reports of the mutated version arriving....and god alone knows what the media will make of that.
I just feel sorry for our bird population, it's not gonna know what hit it over the coming months, I think H5N1 will be the least of its concerns.

Default France demands compensation

I've heard that there are already signs that the virus is mutating. Every human infected with the H5N1 virus could be a lab for mutation to a new human virus, the more so if that person is suffering from a virus disease like influenza himself. That's why I am certainly concerned about H5N1 and it's possible disasterous potential towards mankind.
