What I am doing is playing with the Sim.cfg file going back to the pin point drops thread of a couple weeks ago(I know beating a dead horse). Still playing with the noise detection values and right now I've pretty much got the behavior right where I want it for mid to late war periods but I find changing the noise value to a lower number seems to toughen up the early war DD action a bit.
Is it possible to have a Sim.cfg file say with a certain noise detection value for early war. Then have different Sim.cfg file (the one I'm happy with)come into play at a mid-war date. If I understand correctly I would make a folder structure; data\Cfg\Sim.cfg and go into the SH3 Commander\Date folder pick my desired start date and place in there. Is this correct? Also, can tweaked files such as AI_Sensors.dat be implemented in this way too. Thanks again.

Yep. That's it.
Also, if you want to achieve a sense of "randomness", you can plonk different versions of the files into the "Random" folder structure. For example, you could have under Random\0 a set of files with value x set to, say 11.1, in Random\1 a set of files with value x set to 10.8 etc. |

Thanks, that was the answer I was hoping for. Using the random folder I insert the complete file structure same as I do for dates also?
I'm using RUB 1.45 now but there was mention from Beery about a final version being released in the near future-do you have any idea if that's still in the works. If so and its coming out soon then I'll hold off but if not then I'll go ahead with what I have now. Thanks again.

Hey HEMISENT,
If you ever finish your SH3Cmdr structure for the random DDs, maybe you could send it to me? I like the idea of randomness, and I know it is easy to do with SH3Cmdr, but I'd still like to see how it's done. Maybe I'll get some crazy idea. Who knows... Thanks! Marhkimov.

Hi Marhkimov
I would be more than happy to keep you updated. The random structuring intrigues me. Now that I'm pretty happy with all the changes made resulting from the pinpoint issue I'm thinking about stuff like random increased e-motor noise(sabotage?) random hydrophone depths-(maybe you can go deep and escape and maybe you can't), etc. Also the AI detection noise level mentioned above. JScones is right-the list is endless. Right now I don't want to go ahead and dive into this until I find out if and when the latest/final version of RUB is coming out-haven't heard from Beery in some time now but I think he's still in touch with JScones. Right now my settings are a hybrid geared to work with RUB and in campaign mode and they are all offshoots of CB's excellent destroyer aggression mod.

It then copies the files from the selected random folder into SH3. You'll see that under "\Random\x" is a "Date" folder and then the date and SH3 structure. So, if 2 is selected, then the value of "x" in game will be 11.2. Quote:

Thanks again. This could be interesting.
What most likely will happen is everyone will spend another year tweaking and fine tuning SHIII right to the point where its where we all want it then SHIV will come out and we all start over again.
