Default Has anyone else lost a saved career?

I've had this game since Day-One and dealt with a few probs before, all solved, but this new one is a total stinker. Did a forum-search and can't find anything like it; while still working thru my first career I began a second later in the war only to lose it completely before I could even return from it's first patrol.

The commander's name is intact and it's saved files are still there (in my Documents) but they don't show up on my second career screen saves--- totally blank! BTW, first career is still functional and no problems.

Using the latest patch 1.4b and my version is only lightly modded, (400M depth gage, realistic depth mod, and a few other 'visuals') but other than that it's nearly "stock."

Anyone else seen this happen?

Do you mean your second career was saved midway through your first patrol?
There's some bugs with saving during your first patrol, it doesn't really 'exist' as such. I'm not sure what can be done about it, but if your real career is still working fine I wouldn't worry too much.

Yes, actually I had saved my first patrol (second career) several times over a period of time and went back to it fairly often until one day the saves wern't there anymore. The save screen was there but no entries appeared... strange.

I don't know, but I remember some virus scanners thought Win95 was a virus - I think they might of been right

Nope, haven't done any spyware scans or anything like that.... in fact, I manually update everything including WinXP; won't let it do auto-update either... this is a mystery.

My Microsoft Anti spyware Beta has never identified my SH3 folder in My/Documents to contain spyware.

Known game bug, but there is a simple solution. Go into your my documents folder. Make a copy of your captain's career and rename it with a different name. Go back into the game, it should be there, continue mission. If you really like your captain's name, after one mission, delete your old captain's folder and rename the new one after your old captain, it will be back.

Thank you also. I've had exactly the same problem. Got as far as copying and then pasting back my files without success but changing the name sorts it out.
This is a brilliant forum.
