I need your help Mod Gods!

Ok, This is the go, one of you outstanding modders took some pics of Das Boot (crew faces) and formatted them into the correct size for you crew spots ie; the entire crew/managment screen. I wish to do the same thing as well as trying to get a great pic of the captain in Das Boot but have hit a snag.

I find the part in the move I like ie; when the great man walks into the piss up at the begining of the move in full mess dress, I press pause, then hit Print Scrn button on my keyboard, then open Paint Shop Pro 7, right click and paste image, all well so far. Now where I'm comming unstuck is trying to cut down the picture to only the part I like ie; a nice portrait of the skipper without the other stuff in the snap shot but I cant seem to isolate the bit I want. But it always goes back to the entire print screen image?

am I dong everything wrong from the start ? I'm trying to get the Das Boot skip (good portrait with white cap on so I can place him in the picture portrait in the SHIII commander utility.
