Question about IID

Sorry for what I am sure will be the first of many stupid questions

but I see many ppl talking on these forums about keeping their IID for as long as possible. I am only able to access the IIA. Are you using a mod to gain access to this or possibly is Real U-Boat 1.44 restricting my access?

Thx for any help you can give.

The IID is available sometime in 1940 I believe. It has been such a long time since I last checked, I forget.

I know you should get it before August 1940, because that is the time you are transferred to the French bases. You get it at the 1st Flotilla (Wilhelmshaven).

Thank you for the response. I had read somewhere that it would be available from Oct '39 onward, may have been for a mod or simply bad information.

For me the IID was available after my very first patrol in sep-39, without any mods. Even the VIIB was available at Wilhelmshaven. But i had a successful first patrol, maybe that was the reason.

I never used the IID, with the extra fuel. As i see it there is no point in going all the way from Wilhelm to the Atlantic in a small canoe with 5 torps...
