Default Wilhelm Bauer - XXI alive

Tomorrow I`ll go to Bremerhaven and visit this type XXI boat face-to-conning tower

As far as I could see in the online docu of 'Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum' there is a club which plans to rebuild the ship to a close original style (it served many years in Bundesmarine). I read a little about this boat class during the last months and I´m really curious about the current state of the boat.
Maybe I´ll post some pix after getting back. Special wishes anyone?

Yep, detailed pics of the anchor, the keel, and the hull underneath the outer deck casing.

Seems like I`ll have to take along my toolset and my snorkel. Hopefully I can distract the supervisors long enough...

:rotfl:

Think the pics of hull below deck casing should be possible.

Isn't your name Cobra "The Toolman" Commander ?

The most obvious external difference is that the bottom two torpedo tubes have been removed. Once inside you'll notice some obviously post-war equipment installed, but a good portion of the original configuration is still intact.

All in all, you'll have a great time there. I was just there a couple of weeks ago and spent about an hour examining every last section of the boat. Plus, be sure to visit the adjoining Naval Museum - their displays are VERY well presented.
