Default Crush Depths

Im trying to set the right crush depths for the u boats in the sh3 inspector, but when i set them over 300m it tells me that the max game depth is set to 300m in the .cfg. It doesnt say which .cfg though. So, loaded up the .cfg for the boat i was working on, changed max depth to 350, saved it, then tried to change the depth to 350 in the sh3 inspector and got the same message. And btw i do have the depth gauge mod already.

Are you talking about timetraveller's crush depth tool? Let's say you are working on the type IXC u-boat. To get to the cfg file, go to Program Files/Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII/data/Submarine/NSS_Uboat9c/NSS_Uboat9c.cfg

You should change the max depth to something greater than what you want. If you want 350m try setting the max depth to 400 or something.

No im not working with timetraveveller's program because i already had the sh3 inspector which does the same job plus more. I tried your solution though and that did work. Dont know why i didnt think of that before. Im having a little trouble with the type 7s though, since the normal type 7, plus the '41 and '42 version type 7s seem to share the same file. I changed the max depth to 500 in the file and the normal type 7 is ok, but when i go over 300 on the other two variants it gavies me the error message again.

Hi Wolf52,

Max depth for the normal Type 7 is 300 I think. Check the 41 or 42 checkbox and I think it'll let you set the depth deeper for those types. Leave the CFG depth at 500, which will be sufficient for all Type 7s.

But thats exactly what i did! I set the depth for 500 in the type 7 .cfg, but that doesnt seem to have any effect on the other type 7 depths. It gives me the error for the 41 and 42 versions but not the type 7s that dont require me to use those checkboxes.

If it's the error I think you mean, and you have updated max depth (in the CFG file) from the inspector interface, you need to restart the SH3 Inspector in order for it to reread the CFG file so it knows the new game max depth is 500 meters. Inspector only reads the max depth in the CFG once, when the program loads. Beyond that, you might have an earlier version of Inspector. Current build is 188. If yours is an earlier version, e-mail me and I'll send you the new link. My copy seems to work okay for me.

Ok then the reload worked. I seem to have forgotten the cardinal computer rule: If something doesnt work, restart it!
