Default Looking for a (sea) wave mod.

Hiya.

Iam looking for a mod, if there is any out there , that adjust the waves so they ar both bigger but less frequent.

Ive seen one mod that adjust the height of the waves but non that adjust the lenght of them that they occour.

I want more "spaces" between the waves so it actually looks like big waves is coming and give the sub time to ride them instead of having about 3 big waves on the sub at the same time.

You know what i mean if i refer to das boot when prien meet thomsen at sea in rough weather

I also wonder what program is used to open DAT files. Specially so i can se and adjust grapich elements like the seafloor.

any help appreciated.

The only wave mod I can think of just makes the waves bigger. The problem with wave mods is that the game counts wave strength as hit damage against ships, so that if you had truly giant waves, they tended to cause the merchants to automatically burn and sink. The solution is to alter how the ships see damage, but then you have an armed trawler that can take seven torpedoes and not sink.

There may be hope yet, as some of the modders are working on new damage formulas for the game, but it's much too technical for me to comprehend or describe.

The only wave mod I'm aware of is "Big Wave Mod" Either by Timetraveller or Beery. It came in 3 different versions. Earlier versions caused massive ship sinkings by flooding but that issue has been resolved. Personally I use the middle version Big Wave Mod 1.5.
Check it out. I think still on Terrapin's site.

I`am using that mod allready. And its great. x1.5 mode.

The only thing i dont like is that the big waves come to close to each other.

The sub doesn`t "ride" the waves when they come so close. Instead the sub , when its on its way down from one wave, another hit the sub and make the sub submerged.

In real you never se big waves come so close to each other.
There is a large gap between them so the sub acutaly ride them like a rollercoaster

To bad there isnt any mod that simulate that. would be more realistic

Vikinger, I agree. I also use Timetraveller's 'Big Waves' mod, the full x2 version, and you're right; it would be nice if the waves' period were longer. One of the interesting advantages the small Flower class corvettes had over larger destroyers was that they rode the waves better, sliding up and down over them instead of plowing through them.

Unfortunately the game isn't set up that way, and we'll probably never see realistic 'long-period' waves.

Only thing i found so far is from the Mod:

IMPROVED U-BOAT V1.00 (BETA)

Copy and paste some info from the read me:

Slower Waterspeed by oRGy – This slows down the speed at which waves travel, meaning the submarine 'rides' the waves in a more realistic fashion. (is this just a placebo effect though?)
(data/Cfg/effects.cfg)

I have not tryed it yet but i doubt it will work and is just a placebo effect like he says.

if i take a look what numbers that have been changed from the effects.cfg file i can se

[WaterDroplets]
DifractionCoef=0.03
WaterSpeed=2
MaxBlurMipMap=4

Its the waterspeed that have been changed from 3 to 2.
But i think this goes only for Just the [WaterDroplets]

Not the entire waterspeed which the waves travells.

But iam gona test it out and laborate whit some bigger numbers to se if has some effect.

And in fact when iam thinking of it i can more easily adjust my sub speed instead. It will have same effect.

There is some information in Envsim.act that describes the algorithms for waves and so forth. I might have a look at it later.
