Are there a working lighthouse than can be placed like mines, shore batteries etc in SH 4? I searched but have not found what am seeking. Sometimes things are out there. The coastal searchlights do not work (wish they did). Lighthouses would be great addition as well as working coastal searchlights.

When I place those, do not show up as light houses but as coastal search lights and they do not work i.e. shine a light. They are just there as a bunker looking thing with a light that does not shine lol. Believe they do report your presence if spotted from shore though as had evaded some escorts were close to shore off japan after an attack but then one of those search lights was observed (was 1900 yards off beach at night) and soon radar showed the escorts turning around heading my way at high speed. Aircraft also came into the area searching exact location I was at when spotted the coastal light and assume it spotted me. Would be nice if it would illuminate player sub when alerted though. |

There is a Generic Light House in SH4
Harbor_kit.dat The placement of them is done in the locations dats Kind of complicated but it's all there. One could extract the light house stuff from the Harbot_kit.dat and make a land Unit. That's been done before. Or to be evil mean? Add them to location dats. That drives people nuts! Enter the proper location information and you can use the New York Harbor location to plant a light house in Tokyo! Would it render? I kind of doubt it but actually never tried that! The problem with the lighthouses for what Bubblehead1980 is doing, is that lighthouses and such are "waterfront" land items, and as such, will set themselves on the "surface" of the water, so to have a lighthouse show on a spit of land, you need to raise the "Height=" line in a text editor. First though, you have to know how "high" a given spot is by zooming all of the way in on the proposed location, hovering the mouse over the spot, pressing the "H" key for the height, and looking at the "Height:" field in the bottom border of the Mission Editor. Use that to get somewhat close to the proper height for the text editor, then run a test mission and see what it looks like. You do have to add a "controller" to the light though, if you want it to work, else the war time "black-out" order put out by the local authority does apply...

One thing you need to do is remove the light house from the harbor dat and create a land unit of it.
Then you can place it as you wish. Do I REALLY need to walk people through this? ![]() |
