Promoting ***the crew** to higher ranks in SHC

I recently reviewed all the material on how to promote the player's character to higher ranks such as Korvettekapitan, Kapitan zur See, etc. However, I am running into a brick wall on figuring out how to promote officers to these higher ranks.


When opening up the Silent Hunter Commander crew management screen, the crew ranks cap out at Oberleutant and cant be set any higher. Also 500 experience is the maximum for any officer. It doesn't seem possible to promote an officer to Kapitanleutnant or higher.


Historically, especially at the the end of the war onboard the bigger type 21 subs, departments heads were often Kaptainleutnants with the first watch officer sometimes even a Fregetten or Korvettenkapitan. I would like to see such realism in SH3 and not have a veteran officer spend the whole war as an Oberleutnant!
