Can you switch to electric engines while on the surface?
Here's what happened: First patrol off Formosa, I trailed a little convoy in daylight for a bit but, because I'm in an S-class boat, I couldn't get ahead of them to set up an approach. I thought I was far enough away but I guess the destroyer escort spotted me and shot me up pretty bad (I was in time compression like an idiot). I took damage to all the engines, dove, survived, the destroyer went away, etc. Now I'm surfaced. I have one diesel engine fixed, but for some reason it won't do anything. I turned off battery recharge, that didn't help. I'm surfaced, in daylight, about 30-35 miles off Formosa, and I can't move. Also, just out of curiosity, what happens if you run out of compressed air? I assumed it was necessary for depth keeping and to surface. If I dive just enough to turn the electric engines on, I believe the game counts that as being (underwater) and won't restore the comp air. The only major mod I'm using is RSRDC, the rest are just cosmetic things. |
