I have changed my mind about US Navy returning to diesel subs to protect our harbors.

This Orca drone by Boeing is a much better plan. Unmanned makes it even better for future warfare.

Heck carry one on top of your old Ohio class FBM's maybe.

Commander Dulla's mine proposal is innovative. Yet like many good ideas it will seem obvious when you read it. He combines the range, autonomy and flexibility of a UUV (unmanned underwater vehicle) with the warhead of a mine. This allows it to be used as a moored mine which can propel itself into position, keeping the launch platform far from harms way. It could also be used as an extra slow torpedo to target ships in harbor. Because of its combined features Dulla terms this concept the ‘moor-pedo’.

That's because Boeing needs to amp up its $tock price after the MAX-737 financial di$a$ter! If they can't do above the $urface...they'll do it under the $urface and if the dive becomes uncontrollable ala USS Thresher... nobody dies!?? In two WSJ articles today, the 737MAX production-line shutdown will affect 3% of all commercial U.S. shipping-machine tool, parts etc., affecting gro$$ domestic product by an annualized 1/2 percentage point! The overall loss of market share to competitor Airbus aviation is undetermined at this time...

I take it the use of automated independent(!) drones will lead to a very bad end, and i do not even mean in the sense of "Screamers" or Skynet.
