Simple fix for SH3 crashing on loading screen with GWX + mods

I had been having trouble for weeks with SH3 crashing on loading screens and I tried everything, installing the 4gb mod etc. to no avail. It seemed completely random, sometimes it would load if I removed mods from JSGME or switched around my load order. I discovered a simple fix that stopped me from having any crashes at all whilst running GWX with Arb 1080 x 4020, German U-Boat compilation and multiple other mods. I can even load a save right in the middle of a large convoy without any issues, I've not had a crash for weeks.

All you need to do is to tell SH3.exe to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

To do this go to your Silent Hunter 3 folder, right click on SH3.exe and click Properties, select the Compatibility tab and choose Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop down list.

I tried this on two machines where I was having continuous issues with SH3 crashing on loading whilst using GWX and a series of other mods, this completely fixed the issue on both. It also worked for another user on here who was having the same problem.

I thought I'd make a separate thread for this so that when someone searches this in the future with the same issue I have had they can hopefully see this thread!
