Last night I took my daughters to Games of Thrones Experience Live Verizon Center Washington DC. Both watch the series. I have not watched but a few minutes here and there. The musical score composer Ramin Djawadi conducted the orchestra.
It is a wonderful performance with related footage of the first 6 seasons. The many talents that make up composing and performing what is written on paper is quite something of a gift and talent. If you get a chance to see the performance(fan or not) you will not be disappointed.

Would love to see that Chris, even if it were only half as good as the screen version

The tour dates are not many but I would say more would be added depending on success. The Verizon Center was sold out but for a few very expensive seats. Based on that hopefully it will go worldwide. Something of interest, for each city they select local talent for the performances. This tour was in the making for 3 years.

Considering what typically happens on that show, I'm not sure I would want to experience it live (talking about you Sean Bean/Eddard Stark).
![]() Seriously though, I had not heard about this, so I will have to keep an eye out for local dates. Thanks |

Fully again on Djawadi, he popped onto my radar with Thrones because he has done a really fantastic job with the soundtrack. His work on Pacific Rim, and Iron Man is also top notch, he matches the theme of the film very well.
Oh, and Hans Zimmer...man I love his score for the two Sherlock Holmes films, just about everything he does is gold. Easily one of the best in the business. Another chap who is quite good, not quite up to the same level as the aforementioned two, is Michael Giacchino, he's done quite a bit in the film business but the single thing that has cemented his work in my mind was a single level in a single video game. 'Arnhem Knights' in Medal of Honour: Frontline. It's hard to explain it, especially when you look at the rather dated graphics now, but standing in that ruined Dutch street, with the voices of that choir in the background audiable as the music swelled over the sound of rattling MG42s and Stens, it almost made me cry at the sheer futility of war, and that's in the middle of a first person shooter. I doubt it would have the same effect on me now, but back then it did and that's always stuck with me. |
