High time compression crashes and you

Has anyone had a problem when transitting from Port to patrol zone, where you are using 512x or higher time compression to travel the empty ocean, and in an instant you are critically smashed up, either by running into an enemy ship or being shelled 50 times in .02 seconds by enemy ships and without a "Ship spotted!" or warning?

And if you do, how frequently? And do you have Map Contacts OFF/ON and Realistic Sensors OFF/ON ?

I am beginning to wonder if it's just me having this problem, and because I play with map contacts off and realistic sensors on, the game cannot drop to 1x before I am sunk.

Yes I had that problem as well. I changed the time drop to 1 instead of 8 and put map contacts on.

At work so dont rememebr which file i edited to get the drop to realtime

Realistic sensors on, map contacts on and getting killed mostly by the TC alone, I dare not to use higher TC than 128 when exiting port. Getting killed at sea frequently too.

As emtguf has said, it defaults to a drop of TC 8 when you spot an enemy. This, combined with the lack of an audio clue (no 'ship spotted' shout, you just gotta keep an eye on the TC dropping to 8) can get you killed real quick.

I edited one of the cfgs to make it drop to 1, gives me a bit more time to react.
Can't remember which cfg, I'll go and have a look. Give me a few minutes.

EDIT: Changed the TC setting in the main.cfg. Enemy detected, changed from 8 to 1.

Hit a a few things heading out of port before. Map Contacts ON and Realistic Sensors ON. I try to stay around 512 or less in populated areas.

Nope, never got a cash. My game stops me at 32x when a vessel is nearby. Including friendly vessels. The game sometimes drops me to 1x around ports. I play 100% across the board. No mods.

integrity loss in ports is caused by collesions with friendly ships. This was never an issue before because the physics model allowed them to stop on dimes. The devs seem to have made them behave more realisticaly, and their unable to stop in time to avoid you. I know I T boned a freighter coming out of Kiel. Luckly i wasnt in full on TC and managed to put all back emergency so the collesion wasnt as damaging.

I had to stop using high TC entering port areas due to winding up, uh rather inland often... Yes that is my boat in the upper right corner. My last waypoint in this example was significantly outside the enclosed port area entirely.

Deduction time!
Some ppl reporting weird A.I beheavior - escort ships stick to the player sub at some distance with no matter if ship is "blue" or "red"
That sticked tommies destroyer when the weather is clear, can spot you and then ramming time , watchcrew is buggy and they don`t warn you at all.

Ok, that has to be the funniest thing I have seen so far on these forums
Or maybe saddest, not sure.

I never TC when coming into port, I like sailing in in real time. If I had done that on the first mission I'd have t-boned several friendly ships on the way in cause there were ten of them all around, some were escorts, some merchants, some coming in and some going out.
Had to nearly stop for one DD as he crossed right in front of me, and that was correct cause he had the right of way being off my starboard bow.

Was actually quite enjoyable, and realistic.
Never saw this in SH3, in fact in SH3 I'd never seen any ships in or near port. Well except for a few times i did see a couple patrol boats, but thats it.
And if you do TC into port, do not, I say again do not have TC in travel mode as it completely ingores friendlies, land, and shallow water.

Looks like next time before you start your patrol you'd better start with the preflight checks...
