difference in ports

I see at least 6 French home ports. does anyone of these offer any advantage ? like the mark xx1 ? or long range patrols to good areas ? or is 6 ports just for the hell of it.

Just for the hell of it and historical accuracy. All ports are the same (that is, any home base is just like any other home base, any non-home base is just like any other non-home base).
