Default Don't get too close

Merchants in the early part of the war- no deck guns, clay pigeons, right? WRONG!
Got too close to one and was using the Flak gun to take out the deck cargo, then the whole thing blew up- deck cranes, debris everywhere, my U-boat got engulfed in the explosion! I wa about 20-50 feet away from the ruddy freighter. Note to self- deck gun or torps ONLY!

If i remember correctly there was at least one boat lost as a result of proximity to its target when the ship exploded suddenly and violently which caused the attacking u-boat to suffer considerable damage. i cannot remember which boat off hand.

I remember the first time that happened to me. It was doubly embarrassing because it was in the Deck Gun Tutorial at the Academy. Killed one of the KM's best instructors.

Possibly this incident? -
