Icon8 Online job applications

Man, filling out online apps has become a real chore. These things are not standardized in any way, so you have to fill each one out, line by line. And boy, are there pages and pages of lines.... What it boils down to is job applicants have to do HR's work for them. I miss the good old days where you could photo copy a resume and fax it or email it.

Say Mark Zuckerberg, if you really want to do something good for the world, come up with a universal application process and get industry to adopt it.

thats the one good thing i can say for the airline industry... 95% of them only accept applications from airlineapps.com

now that said, each one has generally has their own forms once you get to that particular website, but at least they are all in one place.

The problem is that your application won't be seen by a human unless it passes a keyword filter. That's why it is broken up into discrete data fields.

This is why doing some research on the company can really pay off as you can put in the key key-words.

I am in the process of applying for an adjunct faculty position and crikey, these universities are worse then any company when it comes to online applications.

Yikes, I remember applying online for my current job.

Not even that, applying to be considered for a chance to be assessed.

Eugh.

G'luck Neal!

Thanks, appreciate the feedback and well wishes. This Feb I will have the coveted 2 years of commercial driving experience under my belt and can start applying for higher paying jobs. Not in the oil fields, like I had planned 2 years ago when west Texas was going full throttle. Thanks to our Saudi "allies", they killed that. But there are still plenty of chemical plants that I can try.

I have had a similar experience when I helped my daughter with her application for a scholarship. She wants to go to school in England for a school semester.

So I took her school certificates and converted them into pdf-files which I then -for better readability- converted into one, bigger, pdf-file to be sent as an attachment together with the online application.

The problem was, it was not mentioned anywhere what the maximum size for attachments is, nor was there any error message like „attachment could not be sent“.

As a conseqence, my daughter received a letter which said „thank you for your application, but your school certificates are missing“, which we had to send again.

Oh well, I thought online applications were there to speed things up.

All the best for 2016 to you, anyway.
