I spotted a convoy two days ago. I plotted my intercept, set my course, and saved. I got around to taking up the gauntlet again today.
The convoy was coming right at me heading 225º give or take. I set course 0º determined the course, slipped into the middle of them with 15 m/s winds and sank a modern tanker over 10,000 tons with a two-torpedo rear salvo. The escorts didn't even find me. I followed the convoy for awhile, saw it change course, followed that and sank another ship–a medium merchant with a two-torpedo fore salvo. Then I followed a bit more, set up a shot, and sank a third ship in the convoy. My salvo went off, but one torpedo prematured. The other ran true and hit the ship. Twenty minutes later she sank... green. Green?! Yes, green. I checked the captain's log and she was marked as neutral tonnage. WTH? I've always assumed that all ships inside an escorted convoy are fair game. Now I have to stop and check flags?! |
