Default A question - is circumnavigation possible?

In the game - is it possible to sail round Cape Horn and then cross the Pacific and reach the East Indies? In other words if I sail off the edge of the game chart will I re-join it at the other side?

In my current patrol I am patrolling the River Plate Estuary off Uruguay and I am looking at re-fuelling options - or do I need to conserve enough fuel to return to France?

Ciao GJO,

Re circumnavigation, I will quote Sailor Steve (from earlier this year):

Quote:
On the other hand the Pacific is problematic in SH3 because you can't cross the International Date Line.
As for refueling options, if you have GWX there will be milchkuh subs in mid-ocean (even one in the S. Atlantic) and supply ships in certain neutral ports (for ex., Canary Islands). You should also be able to stop at any friendly ports for resupply. The Type IX should give you enough range from the River Plate to France if you're not in a hurry.

Gute Jagd!

Thank you - that settles it! I will make it back to France, Langsam mit neun Knoten, and I had better keep my Flak ammunition and a couple of bow torpedoes for the journey. I have already expended all my deck gun ammo sinking Brazilian merchants. So far, so good . . .

I am already in 1944 and the Allies have rounded up the Milchkühe etc.

I'm pretty sure that it is, just remember that the circumference of the SH3 earth is 43,200 km - not 40,075 km

8kn are the most fuel efficence speed, with VII you can make ~34000 km.

In 1944 which you actually are, i think there are not much milkkühe left...

Well I made it back to Lorient - but the Normandy Landings have started so I may not be making many more long patrols!

I have to admit that I have cheated! In this career, I have, generally, saved my game at least three times during each patrol and if it ever looks likely that, through an error or foolhardy action, my boat will be lost, I abandon the game and revert to my previously successful save. This way I have survived and learned . . .

Thank goodness this was not an option in real life . . .
