Dear SubSim forum,
After some digging and searching i have not come up with a way to get the snorkel early on in the game. I can't find rhyme or reason of the CFG files. Opening them in textpad ofcourse. Could anybody tell me how to read these? I know -1 means it's not unlocked. But how do i properly get it to work on a different date? In short. I want to start with the snorkel with every compatable ship. Even if this isn't historically correct Regards, kneggis. |

This will not be a great deal of help to you, but the Snorkel is only available on U-boats of a certain type and in the later years of WW2.
It is more than possible I suspect for you to use a far more advanced U-boat earlier in the campaign, but I would wait until the experienced Kaleuns report-in and tell you the solution. Sorry I cannot be of more help right now. |

You have to edit your basic.cfg in two ways:
- First search the text for the snorkel (it should be the number Idx=1262) - In the next rows you can edit the entry year (Year=1939, month=1 for example) and the subs (sub 0=II, sub 1=VII, sub 2=IX and so on) - Then search for submarine_ammo** (0=IIa, 1=IID, 2=VIIB, and so on) - For every year you wish to have the snorkel you have to edit the text behind Snorkel_00=-1 to Snorkel_00=1 (than you can buy it in port) or to Snorkel_00=1262 (than you will get the snorkel in this year if you change the sub). - Save the file and enjoy your sub with snorkel. |

Thanks! And i got it to work too! I will have alot of fun with this. Now for crush depth.... Any hints/ideas? ... [5 minutes later] Found it! |
