Default Sh3 commander thermal layers

Just a query regarding the random sonar depth option in SH3 commander. Is this implemented by default, or do I have to tweak the SH3C config file to make it happen? I find the instructions in the .cfg a bit confusing.

As far as I recall you shouldn't have to tweak anything. Just turn it on in the Commander option.

Well, that's the thing, Steve. I can't see it as an option in the settings.

From the randomised events folder in the Commander CFG:

Quote:
[0:data\Library\AI_Sensors.dat]
;Randomly adjusts active/passive listening device values to simulate the impact of thermal layers - by Hemisent
;Only MinHeight values are changed

Default Sh3 commander thermal layers

I'm with Clive here.

It seems like a lot of the options that used to be in SH3 Commander, like Thermal Layers, no longer have a check box in the latest version of it.

Thermal layers is one and there is another option that I used to check but my old mind can't remember at the moment what it was - it is gone also.

Using SH3 Commander 3.2

Edit: Is the Randomizedevents.cfg file perhaps loaded automatically now when you use SH3 Commander?

Yebbut, the "latest version" was released three and a half years ago and hasn't been changed since then. It's not new.

thermal layers are always started with SH3Commander.
You must rows [THERMAL LAYERS] in the Randomized events.cfg delete or invalidating.

And they will work with SH3 v1.4 and GWX3?

They will definitely work with SH3 v1.4 and GWX2...I've only used the final version on GWX3.

Not officially but I still have the exe and seven bin files archived and the ability to link you to a reliable source.

I will assume you mean to check the .cfg file and make sure the block for thermal layers is not "commented" out.

Good to know this .cfg is loaded automatically. I will check it out as I am a bit of a tweaker and have a lot of modified files that perhaps SH3 Commander can load for me.

Thanks!

EDIT: Now I remember. English ranks was the other option box now gone.

No, thank you. The GWX team did a lot of work to upgrade from v2 to 3. I will stipulate that they knew what they were doing.

Yeah, we also upgraded 2 to 2.1 prior to releasing 3.
