Default 2 Questions...Part 1

Howdy....
Playing with GWX3 and SH3 Commander and a few mods that should not effect this, and have a question.
I have not yet seen a ship capsize. For a long time I did not see one break in half but I hit one just right under the keel and SNAP. But I have yet to see one turn turtle, belly up, etc. Some will list part way but not roll over. Will ships do that or is it not coded in the sim?
Thanks....on to Part 2....see next post.

I have seen it happen... mostly to the large battleships. It is rare however

I do remember a small coastal freighter slowly turning turtle in medium winds.

It's a seldom to be seen scenario, true.

I haven't capsized a ship yet either, broken a few in half though. Also, once just for laughs, I set a magnetic fuse to detonate just below a torpedo boat, I never did see where it landed.

Drat, now I'm going to go hunt down the Ark Royal and see if I can make that dog roll over and play dead.

Actually, its funny you mention the Ark Royal...

that was the first ship in awhile I've seen roll over and sink upside down, clearly remember all three props exposed as it went down nose first.

Fast moving task force in 1939, NW of UK.

Knew I was only going to get one chance so fired a 4 torp spread around 2 and a half miles out. Two ran deep, but the first and last hit. Most importantly the first one hit right on the bow, second one stopped one of its props.

Air-torps gave away my position and had to duck the destroyers for awhile, yet the aircraft carrier limped slowly on with waves washing over its forward flight deck.

Eventually maneuvered into a position to give it one last torpedo and it rolled over - and sunk in less than 2 minutes. I remember thinking it was kind of neat, probably game-physics due to the tall superstructure.

Actually, I nearly had a carrier-two-fer on the same patrol - ran across a Courageous-class, but sadly it was zig-zagging on a high-speed course that was just too far away to gamble the torpedos on, and couldn't close before it disappeared to the east.
