Default Two held over North Sea ferry fire

I've made this crossing to Holland many times on this and sister vessels.

The eedjits accused of arson and affray should spend many years incarcerated in a cell should they eventually be found guilty of threatening serious injury or death even to so many innocent people

Quote:
Two men have been arrested after a fire on a North Sea ferry led to six people being airlifted to hospital.

A 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of arson and a 28-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray.

RAF helicopters winched two passengers and four crew off the MS King Seaways, which was sailing to Amsterdam, when it was 30 miles off Flamborough Head.

The DFDS ferry, which returned to North Shields early on Sunday, had 946 passengers and 127 crew on board.

If the person charged with arson is found guilty, could he be further charged with 1071 counts of attempted murder? My reasoning is that burning boats sink. The North Sea is cold and the chances of walking/swimming to shore are highly unlikely. Just wondering.

I wouldn't have thought so because arson in itself can be punishable with a life sentence.

If it only carried say a ten year maximum sentence then the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) could then opt for attempted murder if it carried a more severe penalty.

Bringing back Captain Kidd's gibbet might be a good deterrent here; Any act whereby the course way-path or intended route is thwarted, obviated or altered by a criminal act is just plain piracy! Literally, on the 400+ passenger S.F. ferry jet-cat on two occasions as an armed commuting off-duty passenger, I have been summoned to the bridge to deal with the captain's sudden security needs: one a stranded boater in distress and the other an extremely unruly demented passenger. I have extremely little tolerance for any and all interference of this nature aboard a commercial transport vessel where disruption causes panic and can lead to catastrophic loss of life.

Bridlington lifeboat was launched that evening to assist. It rumbles past my place to to get down to the sea every Thursday to practice. I could tell that it was on a job by the speed it went past on Saturday night. it tends to vibrate stuff off my kitchen shelves when it's serious.

I actually witnessed one of the practices when I visited to pick up the latest family pup at the beginning of September this year.

The two suspects remain in custody.

The one guy with what is suspension of affray he must have attempted fisticuffs with another person.Fancy word that affray.

Round these parts if you said "Im a fixin to start an affray with you" more than likely you would get into a fight not because they actually understood what affray meant but because they
would assume that affray must be some form of cuddly embrace.

The first paragraph in the link best sums it up for me:
