Default "Warship! Moving fast!...."

So there I am in my Type VIIB, November 09, 1939, about 1300 hours, grid AN01, the NE corner, tooling along at 20 meters and 2 knots, when sonar reports "Warship! Moving fast! Closing! Long Range!" So I'm thinking, "Okay, time to investigate. Maybe an escort for a juicy convoy, with some big fat merchants, just ripe for sinking." Wrong! As I get closer, I can see at a range of about 10,000 meters the HMS Hood and Nelson, traveling at 22knots, completely unescorted, but just too far and too fast for me to intercept and surely too close for me to try surfacing, even running decks awash. Never seen that before. Running GWX Gold, btw. I'll have to check this area and time out again on another patrol.

I'm in my second patrol: August 20th, 1939, AO98 for 24 hours. After reading posts like yours, I can't wait for the war to start! (My goodness, what a horrible thing to say.)

I was lucky to catch the HMS Hood, Rodney and the Repulse in Feburary 1940, grid square AM 13 around midnight. They were headed strait at my Type IXB, and I submerged and sank HMS Hood and HMS Rodney. I wounded the repulse, but she ended up getting away. If you are lucky to be in front of a task force, it is exciting to attack them and watch those big famous warships sink!
