Right now it is $6.49 for the download on amazon.com, so if you only have 10 bucks in your account, you can get it and still get your morning cup of joe tomorrow, or put one more gallon of gas in your car.

Excellent! Thanks for the heads-up.
Also if you use the link at the top right of the page (the one with Santa) Subsim will get a small kickback, at no extra cost to you! ![]()

So I bought SH4 on Steam (stop laughing) and of course that means I'm stuck at v1.3
I see the Gold edition at Amazon ( http://amzn.com/B008X73CE8 ) but since it's a download, I'm concerned I'd be repeating the same mistake with a different vendor. Does anyone know if Amazon downloaded Silent Hunter is treated the same as if it was installed from a physical CD? (IE the patcher will know you have it and will install, etc.) Or is it "hamstrung" like the version you get via Steam?

It appears I found my answer, so for the sake of anyone who lands here on a search, Gold is version 1.5 and the last version there will be, so my questions about the updatability are moot.
