While this is a great milestone, its not really news. We always knew they were just as capable if they pushed themselves.

Weve lifted the ban on woman in combat but how equal do these woman want the military to be? Do you think they're gonna start advocating that woman be required to sign up for Selective Service, just like i was forced to when i signed up for FAFSA? What about the plans for full integration by 2016? At the very least the military needs to SERIOUSLY tighten up their act, and start taking rape and abuse cases against female (and male) members much more seriously. In an ideological sense theres nothing wrong with woman on the frontlines, but first the practical real-world issues must be addressed. We KNOW they can do it. We've seen woman excel in major combat roles before (in the soviet union and Israel, for example), the problem comes from complications such as rape.

Furthermore, do you think America will react differently if we get into a major conflict and start seeing alot more of our daughters coming home in body bags?

Man you should have met some of the women I served with I have never heard such raunchy filthy jokes in my life.

In one shop which was all male (except for one woman and she was supply so out of sight out of mind) we used to play this game called "gazer" the goal was to hold some object near ones reproductive rejoin in such a manner to represent a phallus for example a dog bone wrench held just so.Anyone that looked called a "Rooster (synonym for rooster) gazer" and must get punched.The idea was to come up with away to get a gaze when of course everyone is on to this game and alert. Well this new female troop got assigned to the shop so of course we had to be on our best behavior until her demeanor was established.

Anyway first day she comes we are standing around before roll call chatting it up she is sitting on an aircraft tow bar kind of like sitting on a see-saw after a few seconds she says "you guys are the hugest bunch off "rooster gazers" I have ever seen" and punched everyone. After that we knew it was cool to speak freely.

Yep this is what all that hard earned tax money goes to people running around with objects held as a phallus in order to get other people to look at it.What they love to do in FOBs is make cutouts where a solider or Marine will lay on some plywood and they trace his body only the cut out has a very large phallus for the Talibans to shoot at.

Trying my best to keep this family friendly and still tell an honest story about how humans really interact when the PC crap is thrown out the window.

There already are female Gunnery Sargents in the Marines.It is the seventh enlisted in the USMC rank no matter the field of occupation.

Now a female Gunny that has a combat MOS is probably a few years away for a woman that just enlisted with the Marines unless a woman cross trains from her current MOS to a combat MOS which is now possible and they most likely encourage this as otherwise there would be no female non coms to serve as a role model to lower ranking females.They will also encourage female officers to cross train as well for the same reasons.

It is logical back when they integrated blacks and whites in the military in 1947 what the wiser top brass did was find the blacks that had the best performance and they would put these men into potions of authority first because they knew that any whites that had a problem would would either ignore the race issue because the black solider could do the job well or if they did complain it had no standing.

I remember once we had a female Chief Master Sargent speak (highest USAF enlisted rank) who had enlisted in 1975 and was the first female ever to be assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) very interesting story as few people male or female want this job and can manage to pass the training so she was the only female for a while.she still had all of her fingers which is not a guarantee after nearly 20 years in EOD.

The real military is all about respect and if a person can perform the duty and proves it they will get respect from 99% of their peers.Especially in combat the BS takes a back seat.
