Default Axis and Allies too needed...

Anyone know where I can get my hands on the .rwd file extractor for Axis and Allies? I used to have it and can't find it. If someone has it or a location where it can be downloaded, it would be a great help.

I want to recreate a mod I made for the game years ago, but can't without access to the data files. Thanks!

I can't answer that question...but I can ask you this.

Have you ever heard of TripleA?

The free, open source Axis and Allies game?

It comes with like 10 different maps/rulesets that include WW1, 2, Napoleaonic Wars, Cold War, and there are many other ones to download.

It's just like playing the board game.

The A&A that I am speaking of is from Atari - it is somewhat like the board game on the strategy side (though it lacks naval and air units), but also allows you to command in RTS when a battle is fought.

The mod I would like to recreate is one in which I tweaked some of the RTS building stats and strategic tech availability.

I had a thread about it a while back... There wasn't too much of a response to it.

RTS? Interesting...

But there's no naval or air units... That's kinda disappointing.

Here is some info for you on it.

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/axis-allies

Its fairly easy to find on amazon or ebay.

Some of the reviews mention "naval and air" - don't be fooled.

If you are attacking "from the sea" you don't start with a land HQ - you start with a battleship - or if your attacking army has air support you start with a carrier. The ship can deploy basic infantry or your HQ to creat a beachhead. However, only 1 side will EVER have naval units because the defender starts on land (and you can't make more sea units).

The basics of the game are this...

You have 3 types of armies... Infantry, halftrack and armor. You can buy them or upgrade them as your resources allow. Each is limited to the units of its type or less (so an armor division can make tanks, halftracks and infantry - while an infantry division is limited to 5 types of grunts.)

If you want to "purchase" the air support upgrade, it can be added to any type of army - and allows that army to build airfields - from which bombers can be staged and fighters will deploy to shoot down enemies. Useful only on longer running RTS battles. Good for recon and late game though bombers are more useful against an enemy base than they are against units.

Overall its a fun game, but not very high on realism. If you would enjoy an RTS that is a little light on the historical accuracy (like seeing a german carrier) - its well worth it.
