Another version of BigDog. Still pretty cool. And pretty fast!

makes so much noise its pointless for any practical use you could think for it

It's still under development. Get the movement right first, then worry about alternate power sources.

When the time has come I'm sure they will move to electric motors and nuke batteries. For experimenting with the basic design issues of running, walking and being stable, "leaf blowers" probably are the easiest solution

...aren't sherpas cheaper? ...or the chick that carried William Holden's pack to the Bridge at the River Kwai? Seems like the ball point pen in space vs the pencil to me.

The state of robotics is amazing and it is only the start.

Of course if I were a robot designer, I might lay off of the kicking of the robots. Computers have very good memories. One day, it might kick back

I guess that's what interns are for.

"uh, you in the red sweater, We need you to kick this robot again and again, OK? Of course nothing is going to happen to you. I will be right over there in the other room.... watching the demo on camera. Any problems, just scream.. uh I mean yell for help so we can hear you over the sound of the engine."

(we do have more interns coming right?)

Clever design. Cameras are getting pretty light, it might work.
