Been working a mod to darken the nights and tweak sensors for night surface attacks for TMO/RSRD. Happy with my results. However, the problem remains when a torp hits or spotted, all the ships in the convoy turn out searchlights, your spotted and blown away before you get dived.
I know ships used searchlights at times, but for the most part they didn't, because it gave them away. I know with darker nights, if I shoot submerged from longer distances, when the lights come on, makes it easy to spot and get a good stad reading. Just think it's unrealistic for all ships to light up, they don't know if you're surfaced or another sub would be in the area. Anyway, I'm thinking of disabling searchlights from 80% of all merchants and capital ships and or reducing the number of them. I've never messed with this and wonder if it's as simple as disabling the lights as needed for each ship in the EQP file? I assume it's reflector base? Can someone tell me how, so I don't have to figure it out myself.
