Default Missing US women found after decade

I saw this on the news earlier and thought 'WOW!'

Quote:
Three young women who vanished in separate incidents about a decade ago in the US state of Ohio have been found alive in a house in Cleveland.
Amanda Berry disappeared aged 16 in 2003, Gina DeJesus went missing aged 14 a year later, and Michelle Knight disappeared in 2002 aged around 19.

It wasn't Frau's Neu Haus was it - she may have opened that locked room.

Overall it's great news, I hope relatively little harm of any form was done to the girls, and I hope the transition back to their families is as easy as possible. Not a job I'd relish.

Yeah, it's the top story here in Ohio. And on the national news as well, obviously, but Cleveland is still kinda "local" for us since even us Cincinnatians have to admit that it's in the same state.

It is really amazing, especially since there were three women and apparently some children - who may or may not be their biological offspring - being held in that house and there was nothing that tipped off the rest of the neighborhood.

One neighbor interviewed this morning said that a couple years back he and his family heard a woman scream somewhere nearby but since they were all in their house at the time they couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. He said one of them called the police and reported it but if they came to the neighborhood presumably there was no further disturbance or signs of a problem so there was nothing authorities could follow up on.

Certainly a happy day for the families and loved ones of the women involved, one hopes that they are in decent health and can have the time and space needed to adjust and reconnect.

I suspect most of the trauma will be of a mental/psychological type.

It was just on the news here in Ireland. It is really, really strange.

This case is quite something to think about. Incredible these three were not discovered for such a long time.

Hard to believe 3 nut men could do or partake of this together, much less one. Be interesting to find out how she finally escaped after all these years. It's obvious she had to have a baby in captivity. I can't imagine the abuse these women suffered by these men. They all should be put to death.

Its amazing that these 3 women can be kept for 10 years in a built up neighbouhood only a short distance from where they all disappeared with no one noticing.

Using BIG LETTERS just emphasises how much that post of yours makes no sense.

What do you mean? I think it makes enough sense, I'm no English major but I think I worded it right, no?

Wait, I think I figured out what you're talking about:
I see I accidentally used the word hostage instead of captive.

Noted.

Sorry, for personal reasons, I take these types of cases personally. And as a result, I sometimes type fast and use the wrong word.

It is simple enough, mandatory sentencing often makes no sense, in this case you managed to be also calling for the death penalty to include for example something like 2 17year olds in Tennessee or Florida choosing to get it on together.

Understood, but in most matters it is better to put emotions to the back when looking at such hot issues. It's not always easy, indeed it's not always possible, but it is always neccesary.

When ever I hear of cases like this, I think "what about long term kidnappings don't we know about?"

There was a time when I would not have believed that someone could keep a captive for 10 years....... then I turned on the news.

Very scary.
