Anyone know what this boat is all about?
I came across it on my return home to Kiel. It was by an Island on the Skagerrak route. My watchmen spotted a ship but not two. Is it used as a 'lighthouse' as it had flashing lights on either end. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Dutch ship is the one spotted I believe. Thanks guys ![]() |

A lighthouse ship.
It is an enviromental object in the SH3 world and this is why the tugboat is next to it so your crew can spot it. It can not be sunk neither by torpedoes nor shells. There are many others everywhere in SH3. |

I believe GWX added these, for historical reasons. Also I think the GWX manual states that "sinking them brings little renown", indicating that they can be sunk.

Yes definitely a Light ship, but not like the ones off the UK Coast, they have a central tower like a proper lighthouse, but I don't think the GWX team put these in, as I haven't come across one. You never know you might come across Radio Caroline

As I now only have GWX and 1.6, I am sure of it. Firts -it is in the GWX manual. Second - 1.6 did add just AI subs, no ships.
Also, I met just two so far. Both quite close to Netherlands. GWX 3.0 manual, page 416: Lightships in GWX are encountered individually and as called for by campaign scripting. Note that lightships are naval auxiliaries and are an exception to the general rule that illuminated ships are always neutral: nations at war with Germany will have illuminated lightships, but they are worth little renown. Also it states that they were quite rare, because they were being replaced by buoys. US had only 30 operational in 1939. |

I know the flag orientation but I guess I'm not too bright about what the natives of that country are called
![]() I had a feeling I got it wrong ![]() I should have put Danish? Which reminds me of an old joke: 'Where does Danish bacon come from?' - Pigs ![]() |
