GWX Latest Version not working with Silent Hunter 3. Please Help. I really love this

Hello everyone
I have been playing Silent Hunter 3 for 3 or so years. I am looking to install the Grey wolves mod for the game. I have deleted all the documents and files that would prohibit the game from running but I get a message saying I have mods installed. I have mods for silent hunter 4 through JSGME but I am pretty sure this is not causing issues. If anyone could help me that would be great. Im also running it on Windows 7 if that would cause problems. Perhaps compatibiltiy mod is needed?
Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

WELCOME ABOARD!

The GWX manual specifically states that GWX must be installed over an untouched version of SH3. You have to completely uninstall SH3 and then run a registry cleaner to get rid of any trace of the game. Then you must delete the SH3 folder from My Documents.

After that you re-install SH3 and then, and only then, install GWX.

If it's the install file on GWX giving you the mods message,try this :

"just point the installer at the steam version of the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Silent Hunter 3 directory and let it rip."

Hey thanks everyone for posting. I will try all of these suggestions this afternoon and get this thing running. I appreciate the help and I cannot wait to get out and break some keels.

I'm glad you had one to offer. I've been using a complete PC maintainance system that I actually pay for, so I'm no help there at all.

Well i got it running thanks. I started with the type 7 b but the deck gun has no ammo. do i have to load it manually. i used the mod included to get it at the start is that the issue

You need to click on a shell to load the gun the first time.
