SH5 or SH5 Gold? DVD or Download?

Hey Guys,

I'm currently playing SH3, but I would like to try SH5 next.
Here is my question:

I can purchase a new copy of SH5 "DVD" version online, but I can also download SH5 Gold directly from Ubisoft for approximately same price.

Can someone please explain the differences between SH5 and SH5 Gold?

Can I re-install the Ubisoft downloaded version in the future, or is it locked to my current PC?

Personally I try to always buy the disc. That's mainly because I'm old and set in my ways. The download version seems to be just fine, and a lot of people have it and swear by it.

As for Gold vs Regular, it's my understanding that Gold has a couple of extra ships that you originally had to purchase separately. If Gold is the same price go for it. If it's more don't waste the money.

As for installing on a new computer, I'm pretty sure that you can, but someone with more experience on SH5 will have to confirm that.

You should be ok with download version. I got my second gold copy from amazon as a download for $9. I downloaded it and have it saved on my HD.

I would always recommend getting DVD because of the manuals games come with, but this isn't early 2000's or 90's where games came with a bible of a manual. So you will be fine with download. Plus you will get playing game faster.

Don't purchase a Steam copy of the game. You won't be able to use The Generic Patcher.

As Steve says.... the disc is the better buy. If your computer goes belly up like mine has you could lose the download. Yeah you can redownload it but why when you could have the disc. BTW.. I'm old too and prefer to have the disc.

I'm running Windows 8.1 now and SH5 installed just fine. Even the Ubisoft folder is outside of the Program Files where it should be. Haven't played it yet as I need to get my mods back in first.

Me too , I bought two (2) Gold DVD versions of SH5 plus (just in case) two (2) DVD standard version

Summat not quite right,installed ran game but no sound and its in a minimalised screen,so uninstall and try again i guess.
