Default color squares all over the sea and shadows

Hi, I recently bought SH5 and thereīs a problem with the textures on the sea and shadows

I managed to downgrade the drivers (and then again upgrading them, tiring thing!) and with the minimun options everywhere (on the graphic drivers and the game). It didnīt work.
The only thing that has done something good is installing the mod for the skies and the shadow improvement. That eliminated the same squares on the skies, that appeared depending on where you were looking.

Also reducing the shadows and AA made the squares go flickering on and off constantly.

Itīs something that doesnīt happen to my other games like Skyrim, GTA IV on high resolution , and I guess it has something to do with shaders, but I donīt know how to manage that.

Any idea please? The game looks amazing with all those mods of the subsim community and Iīm wishing to enjoy it!

AMD or NVidea graphics card, and what graphics card model are you using?

I'm still using an older Zotac GF 8800GT with 1GB of DDR3 RAM. My graphics settings are on the highest of 1920x1080(native) with a 23" widescreen monitor. In SH5 Antialising is at Zero and Gamma is at 50% on the bar. Running the 296.10 NVidea drivers.

Itīs an Nvidia too, as listed on my specs. Zotac 9800 gt (512mb)
I have exactly the same drivers and configuration except a reduced screen resolution of 1680x1050 (I canīt remember exactly)

Sorry I didn't see your card info.

Did you check the settings in Options/Graphics Settings in SH5? Another idea. Open up your case and see if the graphics card is dirty. If it is, it's heat building up and causing you problems. Shut down you computer, disconnect the card and clean it and the fan real good with canned air. Other than that I've no idea what's going on.

Can you run my GR2 Editor/Viewer app without problem? Try running the app and loading any battleship. See if it renders correctly. If it doesn't try loading the cmd_small_boat and see if it renders correctly. If neither one do click the Rendering tab and in the Mode box select Fixed. See if you have any rendering problems. Now select Programmable (Shaders) and see if you have any rendering problems.

GT182> Iīve tried it since the first day, but I donīt think itīs a problem of overheat, as I also made a test with some benmarch utilities and they worked well on higuer settings.

TheDarkWraith> Iīve opened some subs and they worked fine and smooth (as the rest of the game , apart of that problem)

sober> Iīll try to play with those numbers to see what happens. I played with something that I guessed was specular lights and didnīt notice any change.

Thanks a lot to all of you. Iīm sorry to bother you with this.

Turn the shadows off with the ingame graphic options . Maybe the graphics card is broken or not powerful enough Also not enough ram ( you need 6 gigs ). Right click on the desktop / Personalise . Click on windows 7 basic , because aero is a resource hog .

Like Sober says, maybe there's not enough RAM in your 9800GT. 512 is kinda low for a high end game like this is.

Maybe is true, but I was expecting a great performance as my pc is near the high specs recommended.
Iīll keep trying things.
Today I tried to play even with the artifacts, and after trhee minutes it crashed :P

Hagendasz, do you have any buddies near by with a newer 1 or 2GB graphics card you could borrow for an hour or so, just to try in your computer. That would be one way to see what's going on. You shouldn't have to change the drivers, just plug and play. Hey it's worth a try.
