Greetings folks,well I am back online again just having an issue with my new machine,Win 8 & SH3 aren' happening...I get an error about the program being too old to run(copy protection no doubt),I have yet to get Jgsme and all the old faves(GWX etc) up and running again but thought i'd get my toes wet again on a vanilla install.

How do I get past this issue with Win 8?

I'd recommend following Onkel Neals post to the letter - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=160118

I know it's for Win 7 but it should apply to Win 8 too. Others have it working successfully.

Use the same protocals with 8 as you would with 7 and welcome back to the surface.

Spring for a disc without starforce and patched to 1.4b; then follow the above instructions.

I'l give the first suggestion a go,failing that I'll have to hunt down a copy without starforce.....
