Yes, the "Optical Targeting Correction 1.5 for TMO 2.5" or the "Optical Targeting Correction 1.5 for RSRDCv502" both use a 600 ft. gauge for the newer subs. The S-Boats and the Porpoise have the 450 ft. gauges. The dials at the dive stations allow for the mouse to set the depth (within the limit of the gauge).

However, the keyboard "D" (Dive) key will allow you to dive well below the depth gauge limit. As a matter of fact, you can kill yourself if that's what you want to do. No limitation to the achievable depth, except for the subs own particular crush depth threshold. Each sub has a different crush depth. The later the sub model, the greater the depth obtainable. Just know there is a point of "no return" when the depth goes beyond the gauges limit and the sound of "creaking" metal grows loud. I'll not reveal what those depths are, you'll have to find out on your own. The Balao may surprise you to what depth it can reach. Only try it with a 100% hull integrity, and expect if your decent is too steep, you'll not have the power to pull yourself back up.

What you're asking to do is to get a larger increment depth gauge onto a sub that's modded for SH4? I suggest you should contact the maker of the 688i class sub and have him make one.

Can it be done? Yes, of course.

The gauge can take on any appearance one can make, set at whatever limiting increment you want. The proper data files will need to be adjusted to the limit of the gauge, and so on.

I'm not familiar with the sub mod you have in mind. So, what I've already mentioned regarding the stock game subs only applies to them. All bets are off when a modded sub (like the 688i) are added to the game.

Don't use the Optical Targeting Correction mod with the 688i sub. I have no idea what the sub does or what it changes. That's a can of worms you don't want to get into when using a mod that's not made compatible with another mod.
