Default SH5.. have not bought yet but thinking about it.. couple questions..

Hi all,

I have played the Silent Hunter series from the beginning. When SH5 came out I did NOT buy it nor have I tried or seen it since release. First reason was the DRM issues from UBISoft. I have refused to buy any of thier software since the inclusion of the required DRM and full internet access at all times.

Recently they have announced they are fully dropping that DRM system and so I am thinking about again buying UBISoft products if this is the case.
  1. First, does SH5 still require this or has it been patched so that it can be played OFFLINE and without need of any connection?
  2. Next, is the campaign played from the German point of view or can it be played from the allies point of view?
  3. lastly, how does it fair with SH4? or SH3 for that matter?

Thanks for any insight....

1) initially, to install, reg and update (you GOTTA update to 1.2) - you need to be online. After that - you can forever put the UPLAY into offline mod.
2) only from German perspective. Also, from what I understand, the objective and campaigns are somewhat different from SH3. I, personally, never got into SH3 too much (didn't have a good enough computer at that time), so haven't really played the game enough.
3) to each their own is all I can say.

Note too that to get SH5 to play as it should you need to install and use mods. SH5 was broken right out of the box. And as Targor said, Patch 1.2 is neccessary. JSGME is also neccessary for mods to be installed and work properly.
